East Stroudsburg wants to hear from you about the improvements you'd like to see in the borough.
At a public discussion on February 19th hosted by the Eastburg Community Alliance, East Stroudsburg officials asked community leaders, partners, and the public for their ideas. They handed out a map to help those who are visually oriented.
"On this map, put the improvements you would like to see," urged Sonia Wolbert, a member of Borough Council. "Maybe you think a park should go here, or sidewalk improvements could be made there. Whatever you think we could do to improve East Stroudsburg, we want to know."
Pens and pencils were provided and the group started sketching in their ideas.
Walkability was a big topic of discussion, including sidewalk and lighting improvements, along with changing the character of several properties from large imposing parking lots to a series of shops that would entice pedestrians farther into town.
Brian Crawford, President of the Eastburg Community Alliance described several current improvement projects, including a 'Paint The Town' project that identifies properties that might need a little sprucing up and connect them with volunteers willing to make those improvements. He asked for more volunteers to help keep these efforts going.
Even if you didn't attend the discussion, you still have an opportunity to have your voice heard. Maps are available at the Dansbury Depot on S. Kistler St. during normal business hours. Stop in and fill one out.
Or you can print the map and mail it to Eastburg Community Alliance, 5 South Kistler Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
Want to send it electronically? Scan it, or take a photo of it with your phone, and send it to email@example.com.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer for any of several community improvement projects, contact the Eastburg Community Alliance.
